Link Building

Building links for your site is very important if you wish to rank well on search engines for a broad range of keywords. There are many ways to go about building links, some are good, some are bad, and we will thoroughly discuss all the techniques for building links and rank them from a score of 0 to 100, where 100 is the best and 0 is the worst.

  • Add Content Daily. Content is the one thing that can make a site rank in first place on all search engines without doubts, just look at WikiPedia. Content can be anything from articles about something to images with descriptions. Search engines have something called spiders, a name derived simply because these “spiders” crawl content on websites very often. Hence, if your site gets new content on a daily basis, then the spiders will be, for the lack of words, excited to see it and immediately add it to the search engines index, which is magnificent for you. The same goes for new images, because if you correctly name and tag your images, then you can draw a lot of traffic that way. This technique of adding unique content to your site on a dialy basis gets a 100 out of 100.
  • Submit to Directories. Directories are very helpful in aiding your page rank to increase, and they also help index your site in search engines as well. Submit to about 10 directories daily, there are many directories out there, and new directories are made every day. There are many kinds of directories, some will ask for money, some ask for a reciprocal, and others say its free; the free directories are best! One way links from directories will be most beneficial to your site. Another category is article directories, which, in my opinion, work very well! Write articles about your site, anything explaining what you provide or why people should visit your site, and then submit the article to an article directory. Don’t submit the same article to all the directories though, that would be duplicate content, instead, use something called an article spinner and you’ll be fine. This technique gets an 80 out of 100.
  • Submit to Social Bookmarks. Social bookmarking sites are the best new development that the online SEO world has made in the past few years. Not only do they help your site get more traffic, but they also help you get indexed in search engines much faster, which is excellent. Submit every page of your site to social bookmarks, definitely the good ones like Digg and Delicious. Another thing you can submit are articles about your site, reviews and other such things would be good information to put here. Most social bookmarking sites havea a networking system in which you can make friends, so make sure you send out a request to all your friends for a vote on your submission, and even if most of the people who are your “friends” wont know you, they will see the article/site. Its all good marketing. This technique gets an 85 out of 100.
  • Buy Links on Other Sites. This is often considered black hat, and Google does not recommend it, which all basically means its bad. But in my opinion, and in the opinion of the many people that do it, buying links is okay as long as you do it selectively. Do not go and buy bulk links, that will get you caught and immediately destroy your rankings. Buy two to five links on some high ranking or high traffic sites, that should be all you really need, and they have to be links bought from popular or good sites, otherwise you’d be taking a risk for no reason. Buying links gets you rankings directly in exchange of money, which is cheating in a certain way, so you have to be careful to not do it too much. This technique gets a 65 out of 100.
  • Post Comments on Blogs. Almost all blogs have a commenting form which asks you for your name, email address, and website URL, these can be very helpful. Search for a list of dofollow blogs, you’ll find tons, now try to narrow this list down to blogs related to your niche, and once you’ve done that, check out some of the articles on the blogs and make comments. Please do not spam though, those posts will most likely be deleted. Dofollow blogs will give you good backlinks that will have strong PR’s, so you will benefit heavily from them. This technique is a 100 out of 100, because theres no harm in doing it, and as a blog owner I know that bloggers love seeing comments, so everyones happy.
  • Watermark Your Entertainment Content. This is also known as SMO, social media optimization. Lots of times people will make blogs or images that consist either mostly or entirely of images and videos, which are commonly referred to as entertainment content. If your site has a large volume of images, chances are that your images will be found by others through image searches by people who want to use your image for their own use. You should put a small and lightly visible watermark on the bottom left side of your images. Although links on images do not get you backlinks they will still be good marketing and people will often put the link of the original site where the image came from simply because the link is on the image. Do the same for any videos you might be hosting on your sites, because it is very common practice for people to embed videos or download videos and then upload them elsewhere, so thats always good to get more traffic. This technique getsa 90 out of a 100.

Thats about it for now, if I learn more I’ll definitely add it to the article, please feel free to post anything I might have missed out.
